Investigation into four big cats’ import sought

 KARACHI, July 18: The National Council for Conservation of Wildlife (NCCW) has asked the Sindh wildlife department to initiate an inquiry into the credentials of the contractor who recently imported four big cats for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), it emerged on Wednesday.

Bengal tigers, white lions arrive at zoo

Karachi:  July 15: The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation succeeded in bringing four imported big cats to the zoo after getting clearance from the customs authorities on Sunday, though it had not acquired the mandatory no-objection certificate from the Islamabad-based National Council for Conservation of Wildlife (NCCW), it has emerged.

‘Keenjhar Lake inflow not increased yet’

Karachi, April 19: While the findings of an examination of water samples taken on a request of the Sindh Environment Protection Agency from a ‘polluting drain’ feeding the Keenjhar Lake are expected to be out by Friday evening, a senior official of the irrigation department said that an increase in the lake inflow that some experts recommended to reduce toxicity could not be done due to serious water shortage.
