200 flood-hit villages cut off as bridge collapses
DADU, Dec 12: A 20 feet long bridge built on a sluice on Nara distributary and cutting across Suprio bund was washed away by heavy pressure of floodwater on Sunday, cutting off communication between 200 villages.
Several flood-hit children die of diseases
DADU, Nov 14: Several flood-affected children have died of measles and other diseases in relief camps in Dadu and Jamshoro districts, according to sources.
The sources said that four children died of measles at a camp set up at a degree college in Dadu.
Hunger and disease stalk camp dwellers before Eid
DADU, Nov 14: Hundreds of flood-affected people living in tents on the premises of the Ustad Bukhari Boys Degree College are not receiving any food and no government functionary or NGO is helping them at the time of Eid.
The tents were set up by an NGO about two months ago and 400 flood-affected families from villages of Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah talukas were accommodated there.
The NGO had provided one month’s ration before handing over the camp to the local administration, which stopped supplying them food and other essential items about 45 days ago.
Many Dadu areas unable to cultivate Rabi crops
DADU, Oct 9: The fate of Rabi crops stands in doldrums as many talukas are still inundated with flood water, making it impossible for farmers to prepare their land for cultivation. Rabi season is days away as it begins from 15th of this month and the land would not be dried up before six months, said growers and irrigation officials.
