KARACHI, Jan 27: The Sindh Environmental Protection Tribunal on Thursday directed a motorbike assembling firm to implement an environmental management plan and submit a compliance report by June 2.
Mohammad Naeem, the chief executive officer of SS Autos located in the Kotri Industrial Area, is facing a charge of failing to monitor pollution levels and ensure compliance with the national environmental quality standards.
The complaint was filed by the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) invoking the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997.
Dust allergy cases increasing
ISLAMABAD, Dec 23: With the metrological department forecasting dry weather for the coming few days, hospitals in the capital have seen a surge in the number of patients suffering from dust allergy.

Court issues notices to 48 factories
HYDERABAD, Dec 10: The Judicial Magistrate-I, has issued notices to 48-units of Kotri on Thursday on an application filed by Jawad Sahar Advocate seeking directives for stoppage of production of these units which is prima facie hazardous to human life.
He has requested the court to ensure removal of public nuisance caused by these units in the site area under section 133 Cr.PC which allows a judicial magistrate to pass a conditional order, calling for removal of public nuisance from any place in a certain period.
A spell of dense fog from tomorrow
LAHORE, Dec 10: Most parts of Punjab are expected to experience a spell of dense fog from Sunday (tomorrow) due to persistent dry weather, decreasing temperatures and high trend of humidity in the air.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department said on Friday the spell of dense fog was likely to persist for at least 10 days because there was no chance of rain in the country during this period.
Upper parts of the province have already been experiencing shallow foggy weather conditions during early mornings for the last two days.
Kilns razed for clean air
ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: A landlord voluntarily demolished 27 brick kilns standing on his land in Lohi Bhair, along the Islamabad Expressway, on Monday for the love of green environment.
27 brick kilns demolished in Loi Bher
ISLAMABAD, Oct 6: Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) has razed to ground 27 brick kilns in Loi Bher after their owner was persuaded to do that to save environment.
Mohammad Nawaz Khan voluntarily agreed to demolish his business in return for some environment-friendly trade.
Amend laws to control vehicular emissions
ISLAMABAD, July 6: The Ministry of Environment has urged Punjab government to do away with decades old inadequate motor vehicles laws to control emissions polluting its air.The ministry said that urban ambient air was being polluted by old or aging vehicles that emitted over 3 million tons of CO2 per year.
