Tree cutting goes on unchecked in national park

ISLAMABAD, Feb 12: They say national parks are national treasures.

However, that seems to be forgotten in Islamabad, where tree cutting has become unprecedented, uncontrolled and free for all in the Margalla Hills National Park.

Up north and personal: Out of sight

 *Monsoon mornings tend to be rather somnolent affairs: dull greenish-grey light distilled through tree branches is further diluted by the bedroom curtains. The underwater effect makes it impossible to discern whether it’s 5 am or 10 am. The oppressive atmosphere instills a peculiar lethargy in both humans and animals. Even the birdsongs are muted.*

Rally against mangroves cutting

KARACHI, Feb 9: Activists of the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) on Wednesday marched from the ICI traffic intersection on Mauripur Road in protest against the cutting of mangroves forests for commercial purposes and demanded an immediate action against elements involved in such illegal activities in Kakapir and Shamspir.
