Lifestyle changes can help prevent 30% of cancers: WHO
ISLAMABAD: More than 30 percent of cancers can be prevented by lifestyle changes, the World Health Organization said Friday, on the eve of World Cancer Day.
Among key risk factors for cancer are tobacco and alcohol consumption, a diet low in fruit and vegetable intake and lack of physical activity.
"Tobacco use is the most important risk factor for cancer causing 22 percent of global cancer deaths and 71 percent of global lung cancer deaths," the UN health agency said.
Seminar on dengue awareness
LAHORE: School Education Secretary Muhammad Aslam Komboh has said education and health departments will work jointly to create awareness among the people about dengue virus.
The secretary was addressing a seminar on awareness campaign about the dengue virus which was held with the collaboration of the gender groups of education and health departments here on Sunday.
According to a press release issued on Sunday, he said the education department would distribute pam-phlets in this regard through students and teachers.
